The NECT has undertaken the following initiatives in the field of education since 2006 – 07 for the welfare of the younger generation
Since English is the international language, it is obvious that every student should have fluency in English for effective Communication. Knowing the ground reality of the difficulty in speaking fluently in English in the case of +2 Students, communicative English course has been conducted from 2006-2015. Usually we conduct the classes during April/May every year. So far, more than 300 students are benefited and the parents have appreciated our sustained effort in developing English speaking skill among rural children.
Initially awareness on correspondence course was created among the rural area students. As part of our continuing Education programme the trust entered into an agreement with Tamil University for helping the students to acquire knowledge and possess degrees in various discipline through Distance Education mode of Tamil University, Thanjavur since 2007. A good number of students availed this opportunity of obtaining degree through correspondence course. We continue to instill interest in furthering the learning level of rural area students in Kattumannarkoil taluk and other area .More than 40 students have been benefited from this program till 2014.
For bringing positive social change, vocational education plays a vital role for the younger children. To provide practical training in computer education, a training centre was started in 2008. The trust tied up with a reputed ISO certified firm SsS, Chennai for providing course material and technical advice for the students. Experienced staff took classes for the trainees. School going children numbering 20 are also given computer training at free of cost every year. After successful completion of the course, they have been issued with Certificate of merit. More than 60 students are the beneficiaries in this scheme.
Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) For the benefit of the secondary Grade and Graduate Teachers, Special coaching classes were conducted for appearing for the TET during 2013-14. the months Apr Out of the 50 teachers participated in this program, 9 teachers were successful for appointment during 2013-14. They have been supplied with relevant study materials. More than 32 participants mostly belonging to rural areas have benefited from our centre. We have conducted special coaching class for the candidates who appeared for Group IV examination held by TNPSC in July 2012.
Besides the activities already mentioned, the trust ventured a new activity of running a Residential Special training centre for the benefit of the dropout and never enrolled children in Elleri (East), Komaratchi Block,cuddalore district with the joint effort of SSA (centrally sponsored scheme.) The District Collector, Cuddalore has permitted us to run this RSTC (Undu Uraivida Palli ) from August 2011. The District programme coordinator,SSA, Cuddalore has visited the centre and appreciated our effort in imparting education to the children in RSTC universalization of elementary education. Based on merit, We have been permitted to continue our RSTC FROM 2011 TO 2014 .
The total number of beneficiaries were fifty children. They were provided with free boarding and lodging facilities. They were trained in age appropriate class as per RTE Act. Adopted ABL and ALM in teaching methodology. Vocational training like tailoring, embroidery, mat work , making of wire bag and computer training are some of the extra curricular activities taught to the children. Life skill training and Yoga practice were part of co –curricular activities to the children in RSTC. The parents acknowledged our initiatives. The children in RSTC had gone to Poombugar and Tranqubar and Thanjavur as part of exposure visit. We did our best to the training are some of the extra curricular activities undertaken.
Owing to administrative difficulty, we mainstreamed the RSTC children into formal Schools in June 2014
Further the Centum Scorer in Maths and top 5 Students of GHSS Kodalikarupur, Ariyalur District in Std. X Public Exam. held in April 2013 have been given cash award of Rs. 2000/- sponsored by A.Pandiyan, Trustee of NECT, Kattumannarkoil. Headmistress Manimozhi distributed the prizes to the students.
To encourage outstanding performance among the school children, the Trust has been giving school toppers award to pupils from selected school. Accordingly, the School topper in Std X Public Examination held in March/April 2014, in GHS, Thirukkalappur, Udaiyarpalayam Taluk, Ariyalur District has been given a cash award of Rs.1000/- to R. Sandhya in the presence of the school Headmaster Mr. Asaithambi.
In order to promote compulsory child education in the rural area, the trust had participated in the children’s Day celebrations on 14.11.2014 at GHS, Thirukkalappur. On that occasion, We conducted elocution competition to the children of Std VI – VIII and IX to X and distributed prizes to the winners of the first three place in both the groups.
To create awareness on General Knowledge among school going Children, the Trust conducted Quiz Programme on 07/02/2015 in Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kattumannarkoil, Cuddalore District. The Prizes to the winners of the First Three Places for the girl children of Std IX- X and Students of std XI-XII in QUIZ programme have been distributed in presence of the Head Master Mr.T. Under community welfare programme, the Trust has undertaken the renovation work of Sri Veeranar temple at Thirukalappur Village, Udaiyarpalayam Taluk, Ariyalur District at the request of the members of Kondiyar sect belonging to Most backward community. The work was started in September 2014 and the sacred Maha Kumbabishikam of the temple was held on 31.05.2015. A sum of Rs.35,000-/ has been donated on behalf of the Trust for renovation the temple. The Chairman of the Trust, N. Adiyapatham has played a vital role in perfect completion of the project work and the temple has been dedicated to public use with effect from 18.07.2015
Our Trust chairman visited the Spot of the fire accident occurred at Kuppanguzhi Village, Kattumannarkoil Taluk in July 2014 and assisted the victims by distributing 10 bed sheets to the affected persons in a joint mission with Lions club, Kattumannarkoil.
